Madhya Pradesh chief minister Dr Mohan Yadav attended "Bharat Tex-2026" at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on July 16, where he held a round table meeting with leading domestic and international textile investors, industry representatives and global brands. On this platform, he laid out Madhya Pradesh's investment friendly policies, the enormous potential of its textile sector and the facilities available for industries, giving investors a close look at every relevant detail before they commit capital to the state.
A wave of growth, compared to the spirit of Kumbh
Addressing the gathering, Yadav said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, a wave of development is sweeping across every sector. He described himself as someone who comes from the city of Kumbh, noting that the Kumbh returns only once every 12 years and that during it, the entire region takes on a single religious atmosphere. He said a similar atmosphere has now built up around the textile industry, with the same buzz and enthusiasm visible everywhere. He recalled that Madhya Pradesh had also taken part in this event last year, but this year its glow has grown further. According to him, with the cooperation of the Union Textile Ministry, the state is managing the resources available in the textile and garment sector more efficiently, which is boosting both cloth production and employment, with the textile industry strengthening the state's economy.
PM MITRA Park in Dhar to create three lakh jobs
Yadav said Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of the country's first PM MITRA Park in Dhar district. He said the park will generate direct and indirect employment for around 3 lakh people, while more than 6 lakh cotton growing farmers in the Malwa-Nimar region will get a major benefit from it. He explained that the park's real strength lies in linking the entire chain from farm to factory, and from the factory through the garment industry to the global market, creating an easier route for a farmer's cotton to eventually reach international markets. That, he suggested, could mean better prices for farmers without needing middlemen, while new factories coming up in the region would open up fresh employment opportunities for local youth.
Government says industrialists' experience is real capital
The chief minister said Madhya Pradesh is fully ready to move in step with the central government and global brands. He acknowledged that while state officials do brief investors on policy, the experience carried by the industrialists present, built through years of hard work, is a far bigger asset than any policy document. He said the statements and suggestions made by these industrialists are what push the state government to move ahead even faster, meaning policy is being shaped not just on paper but on ground level experience.
Cheap power and centuries of weaving heritage
Referring to a recent electricity auction, Yadav claimed that the cheapest electricity anywhere in the world right now is available in Madhya Pradesh, adding that the state generates power both on water, through solar installations, and from water, through hydro projects. He said this cheap and reliable electricity directly helps lower costs for power intensive industries like textiles, making the state even more attractive to investors. He then traced the state's textile legacy back to the era of King Vikramaditya, saying Maharani Ahilyabai had built the Maheshwari sari brand with the specific aim of improving weavers' income, and that the Chanderi sari is another equally strong brand from the state. He said the real beauty of India lies in its diversity, pointing out that Banarasi saris are equally loved by people in north and south India, while in Bihar, Bhagalpuri cloth sees particular demand. Similarly, he said, the respect the Kanjeevaram sari commands in south India is matched by the respect it gets across the whole country. According to him, his government has worked to connect the economy directly with people's everyday lives.
Government clears dues, pays out nearly Rs 5,500 crore in subsidies
Yadav said the state government has fulfilled every promise made to industrialists and investors. He said subsidy amounts owed to industrialists and investors across all sectors have already been transferred to them through direct benefit transfer, and that by making these payments the government has cleared all its liabilities up to May 2026, a move meant to further strengthen investor confidence. He said that over the past one and a half years, the state government has given around Rs 5,500 crore to industrialists in the form of subsidies. Inviting industrialists and investors to set up units in Madhya Pradesh, he said that anyone who comes to the state once ends up belonging to it, and that the "heart of India" is welcoming every industrialist. He also said Madhya Pradesh has made notable achievements in the green energy sector, with adequate power available from solar and pump storage projects, which is why the state now offers the cheapest electricity and has made it easier to run industries.
Foundation also laid for a smart industrial park in Bhopal
This comes shortly after Yadav laid the foundation stone for a smart industrial park in Bhopal, which will also include a large convention centre spread over 25 acres, giving the state's industrial push another dedicated venue and a facility that could host major industrial events in the future.
