The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, known as FSSAI, has launched a major crackdown against prominent food and restaurant brands over widespread regulatory violations. The authority has issued more than 150 notices concerning misleading advertisements, false claims, and non-compliance with mandatory labeling norms across various establishments.
Domino’s Licenses Suspended
Among the hardest hit in this latest regulatory sweep is the popular pizza chain Domino’s. The food safety regulator has suspended 5 licenses belonging to Domino’s following inspections that uncovered serious discrepancies and failure to adhere to prescribed food safety standards at specific outlets.
Major Brands Under the Scanner
The sweeping action by the regulatory body extends to several high-profile domestic and international food chains and hospitality businesses. Companies facing scrutiny under these notices include KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Costa Coffee, and McDonald’s, among others.
Reasons Behind the Regulatory Action
The primary triggers for these punitive measures involve misleading promotional claims, improper product labeling, and violations of food safety guidelines designed to protect consumer health. FSSAI routinely monitors food business operations to ensure strict adherence to safety and quality protocols across the country.
