While speaking at a public gathering for Annapurna scheme beneficiaries in the Bhavanipur assembly constituency, he articulated a strict stance regarding national identity. He stated unequivocally that every individual residing in West Bengal must sing Vande Mataram, making it clear that the administration will not compromise on matters of nationalism.
Uncompromising Stance on Vande Mataram
Emphasizing his point during the rally, he asserted that singing the national song is non-negotiable for anyone living in the state. This declaration is being viewed as a reaffirmation of the government's uncompromising approach toward patriotic duties. The administration has signaled that any reluctance, opposition, or disrespect shown toward Vande Mataram will be met with severe disapproval.
Severe Allegations Against Jadavpur University
A major focus of his criticism was Jadavpur University, which faced sharp accusations regarding its internal environment. He alleged that anti-national elements operate within the campus and pointed out specific grievances, such as the failure to hoist the national flag. Furthermore, he claimed that state education department officials are barred from entering the campus and permissions to install CCTV cameras have been blocked.
Calling Out Disruptive Elements
He explicitly stated that certain factions within the university actively oppose the celebration of Independence Day and Republic Day alongside refusing to sing Vande Mataram. Describing these individuals using strong political terminology, he labeled them as members of the tukde-tukde gang and jihadist elements who attempt to undermine national integrity from within an educational institution.
Defying Critics and Media Opposition
Addressing the broader public discourse, he also directed criticism toward a section of the media. He maintained that regardless of what critics or certain media segments write in support of anti-national voices, his administration remains fully committed to establishing a strong nationalist presence both inside and outside the university premises.
Invocation of Syama Prasad Mukherjee's Vision
Concluding his address, he invoked the ideals of Syama Prasad Mukherjee, stating that the current governance framework is dedicated to realizing Mukherjee's foundational dreams. He stressed that premier educational hubs must reflect Indian and Sanatan culture, ensuring that national consciousness and deep-rooted patriotism remain central to student life.
