The platform handles user verification entirely online, eliminating the traditional hassle of physically submitting paperwork at toll booths. This specialized service is strictly restricted to individuals whose residential addresses fall within the 20-kilometer perimeter of a designated toll plaza, ensuring that local commuters benefit from streamlined daily travel without bureaucratic delays.

While this digital initiative officially commenced on August 18, many eligible motorists remain unaware of the streamlined process. The system leverages government databases and advanced location-based verification protocols to authenticate applicants. The online local pass facility is currently active across 121 toll plazas throughout the country. Each issued pass remains valid for a duration of one month and can be conveniently renewed or generated directly through the Rajmargyatra application. Only individuals residing within the mandated 20-kilometer radius of the corresponding toll plaza qualify for this monthly exemption pass, which permits multiple transits through the checkpoint over the thirty-day billing cycle.
Integrated Verification Using DigiLocker and Vahan
To ensure seamless online verification on the Rajmargyatra app, the platform integrates directly with established government databases like DigiLocker and Vahan. These integrations fetch necessary residential addresses and vehicle registration details that remain linked to the user's active FASTag account. Furthermore, the National Highways Authority of India has incorporated GIS-based verification to accurately determine whether an applicant's location falls within the prescribed 20-kilometer zone around the toll plaza. Users can also utilize the app to check which nearby toll plazas will accept their local pass.
