In a deeply tragic and shocking incident reported from Bihar, four construction workers lost their lives due to suffocation inside a septic tank. The incident took place in Sawanhi village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Gopalpur police station area in Gopalganj. Construction work for a new house belonging to Rehma Khatoon was underway at the site, and the workers were engaged in removing the shuttering of the septic tank. As the unfortunate sequence of events unfolded, the workers succumbed to toxic gases inside the tank one after another. The tragic event sent shockwaves throughout the entire locality, prompting immediate police intervention. Upon receiving the alert, a local police team rushed to the scene, took charge of the situation, and sent all four bodies for post-mortem examination while initiating a detailed probe into the matter.
Workers Entered One by One
The sequence of events leading up to the tragedy unfolded in a harrowing manner. Initially, the first worker went inside the septic tank to remove the shuttering, but he failed to return. When he did not emerge, a second worker went inside to check on him, only to vanish without coming out. Subsequently, a third worker entered the dark enclosure, followed shortly by a fourth worker. All four individuals ended up trapped inside the deadly tank sequentially. When a fifth worker eventually entered the tank, he suddenly experienced severe asphyxiation and gasping for breath. Realizing the grave danger just in time, he managed to scramble back out. It was only after this fifth worker escaped that the true magnitude and severity of the tragedy came to light.
Identification of the Victims
Local authorities have officially identified the four workers who lost their lives in this unfortunate accident. The victims include Bunty Baitha alias Rakesh Baitha, a resident of Sawanhi Patti; Javed Alam alias Tipu, a resident of Sawanhi; Umesh Yadav, also a resident of Sawanhi; and Sabbe Alam, a resident of Gidhha. The news of the sudden demise of these four individuals plunged their families and the entire village into profound grief and mourning. Relatives were inconsolable, and a pall of gloom descended over the entire neighborhood as locals tried to come to terms with the sudden loss.
