In the Sardarpura area of Jodhpur, a newly opened South Indian eatery named 'Khali Dosa' is gaining significant attention not just for its culinary offerings, but for its commitment to social welfare. While the restaurant provides a diverse menu featuring crispy masala dosas, Mysore dosas, rava dosas, and cheese dosas, along with staples like idli, vada, and uttapam, the core philosophy behind the establishment is what sets it apart from traditional food outlets.
The 'Your Plate, Someone's Slate' Concept
The outlet operates on a unique theme called 'Your Plate, Someone's Slate'. The proprietor, Ravi Bhati, decided that the launch of his new branch should go beyond mere profit-making. As a gesture of giving back to society, he pledged that the entire sales revenue generated during the first seven days of operation would be dedicated to educational development. This complete amount will be utilized to construct school classrooms for children in need, providing them with better facilities and a more supportive learning environment.
A Commitment to Social Responsibility
Ravi Bhati explained that the idea struck him while he was planning the inaugural phase of his business. Recognizing that he had received tremendous support from the community, he felt a responsibility to contribute positively in return. To turn this vision into reality, he collaborated with his childhood friend, Yogesh Bhati, who is associated with the organization 'Round Table India'. Both partners emphasize that such grassroots contributions are essential for fostering meaningful societal changes and ensuring a brighter future for underprivileged students.
The Role of Round Table India
Representatives from 'Round Table India' highlighted that their organization is an international entity with a century-long legacy, having operated in India for the past 65 years. The organization is primarily focused on developing infrastructure in government schools, including the construction of classrooms and sanitation facilities. They rely on self-raised funds to carry out these infrastructure projects. The pledge made by Ravi Bhati to donate the entirety of his first week's earnings—rather than just a percentage of profits—is viewed as a substantial contribution. This fund will be directed toward schools that are in urgent need of structural improvements, effectively translating food sales into permanent assets for child education.
