A major digital education initiative has been launched in Bihar to assist secondary and senior secondary students in their academic coursework and competitive exam preparation. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the 'Bihar Vidya Sathi' app, a platform built to deliver round-the-clock, one-on-one teaching assistance to students in Class 9 through Class 12. Beyond standard school subjects, the application provides specialized digital resources tailored for candidates preparing for national competitive tests such as JEE and NEET.
Extensive Network and Access to 75,000 Educators
The platform was officially unveiled through a video conferencing ceremony. In its initial rollout, the initiative covers 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketan model schools distributed across all 38 districts of Bihar. Approximately 300,000 students will benefit from the platform during this first phase. To address student queries efficiently, around 75,000 teachers will be available online through the system. Students have the flexibility to select instructors based on their subject preferences to resolve academic doubts interactively.
Free Preparation for Board, JEE, and NEET Examinations
The learning environment is structured to support varied educational milestones. Class 9 and Class 10 (Matriculation) students can access subject-specific teacher guidance across all foundational topics. For Class 11 and Class 12 (Intermediate) science stream students, the platform offers combined guidance covering both state board examinations and competitive entrance tests like JEE and NEET. According to details shared in a statement posted on X by the Bihar School Examination Board, enrolled students at the 700 model schools receive complete, unlimited, and free access to these learning services.
AI Tools and Personalised Learning Features
A core feature of the Vidya Sathi platform is its 24-hour academic support mechanism. Whenever students encounter difficult concepts or problem sets, they can schedule study sessions with a teacher of their choice within a 24-hour window. The system incorporates digital reading materials, artificial intelligence (AI) powered learning aids, and unlimited practice test papers. Access to every feature remains entirely free of charge. Additionally, a teacher rating mechanism has been integrated into the application to ensure teaching performance and quality remain consistently high.
Equal Opportunities and Relief from Coaching Expenses
Highlighting the objectives of the initiative, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that the app marks a crucial advancement in offering equitable quality education and professional academic mentoring. He emphasized that combining routine school curriculum with competitive exam preparation helps bridge educational divides. The state government plans to expand the app's coverage to additional public schools in subsequent phases. This digital setup is expected to relieve financial pressure on families in rural and urban areas by reducing dependence on costly private coaching centers. Students participating in the launch event completed live trials of the application to test its features.
