Pawan Patiala, based in the capital city of Jharkhand, has carved a distinctive niche for himself through his exceptional craftsmanship in traditional footwear. Hailing from a lineage originally rooted in Patiala, his family has been dedicated to this traditional trade for generations. Having little inclination toward academics during his childhood days, he observed the elders at home shaping footwear and decided to take the legacy forward.
While his family's enterprise was initially operating on a modest scale, Pawan introduced innovative designs to expand its reach. Today, his workshop offers a diverse range tailored for every occasion and preference, spanning from royal Maharani patterns and intricate cut designs to simple office-wear and casual footwear.
Every single pair crafted by Pawan is made entirely by hand, completely avoiding the use of factories or machines. From the sole and flat base to the detailed motifs of peacocks, floral patterns, and Zari work, every element is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans. This human touch imparts a genuine traditional appeal to the products. Through years of dedication, he has accumulated a loyal base of over 20,000 customers who affectionately refer to him as the Juti King.
Pan-India Presence and Stalls
Pawan explains that the artisanal craftsmanship ensures that finding an identical piece elsewhere remains nearly impossible. To reach a wider audience, he sets up stalls across government and private exhibitions throughout India. His clientele spans the length and breadth of the country, stretching from Kannyakumari in the south to Kashmir in the north. When female customers visit his displays, he personally inquires about their outfit requirements, whether it is for jeans, salwar suits, or lehengas, and assists them accordingly.
