Technology giant Apple has posted its highest-ever revenue in India for the July-September quarter, driven by unprecedented device upgrades and record contributions from its computing and subscription businesses. Customer numbers switching to current iPhone models reached an all-time peak in the country during this timeframe. Discussing the quarterly earnings, Apple CEO John Ternus noted that operational and financial performance remained exceptionally robust across multiple geographies, with India demonstrating standout expansion during the quarter ending in September.
India Leads Wave of Smartphone Upgrades Across Global Markets
Ternus stated that the company established fresh revenue milestones across the Americas, Europe, Greater China, and the broader Asia-Pacific region during the second quarter. Both mature and developing economies turned in record results, with India delivering its largest financial intake to date. A critical driver in the Indian market was the unprecedented volume of consumers replacing older smartphones with the latest iPhone iterations. This strong domestic consumer momentum directly helped the company record its largest pool of upgraders on a worldwide scale for the entire fiscal year.
Global iPhone Receipts Climb to $57.6 Billion Despite Foreign Exchange Headwinds
On a worldwide scale, iPhone revenue expanded by 17 percent year-over-year in the second quarter to reach 57.6 billion dollars. This double-digit expansion came even as the hardware maker navigated supply-chain constraints and unfavorable foreign currency fluctuations across international territories. According to Ternus, the company posted double-digit gains in both the United States and Greater China. Overall consumer additions for new iPhone hardware touched record highs across India, China, and the United States throughout the September quarter.
Launch of Apple Pay in India Through Axis Bank Partnership
Alongside hardware sales, the tech company advanced its financial ecosystem in South Asia by introducing its proprietary mobile wallet infrastructure. Apple recently rolled out its payment service Apple Pay in India in collaboration with Axis Bank. Following this rollout, the contactless payment mechanism has expanded its footprint to operate across more than 90 markets globally, providing users with unified mobile transaction options.
Mac Computing Division and Services Ecosystem Post Unprecedented Numbers
Detailing the division-wise metrics, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Kevan Parekh highlighted that the Mac hardware line jumped 24 percent to reach 10.8 billion dollars in global revenue. The Mac segment established all-time revenue records in both India and Southeast Asia. Parekh added that the Services business similarly reached its highest revenue benchmark in the Indian market. Globally, Apple's Services arm rose 10 percent to bring in 31.6 billion dollars, with emerging regions such as India and Latin America establishing historic records across their subscriber ecosystems.
