Under government initiatives designed to foster financial independence, dedicated training programs are providing young individuals with practical technical expertise. As part of this drive, local residents are being offered entirely free vocational training in air conditioner and refrigerator repair, equipping them with the practical expertise required to launch their own repair shops and service businesses.
Empowering Youth Through Technical Skill Development
After finishing their academic studies, many young people spend years preparing for competitive examinations or searching for limited job opportunities. However, an increasing number of individuals in the region are recognizing the value of practical trade skills that offer immediate self-employment opportunities. The Rural Self Employment Training Institute in Firozabad has launched specialized courses aimed at training youth from across the district in electronics and appliance maintenance.
The current 30-day intensive program focuses specifically on diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues in air conditioners and refrigerators. By offering high-quality practical exposure at zero cost, the institute aims to enhance the employability and entrepreneurial confidence of young graduates, helping them transition into independent business owners.
Hands-on Learning and Trainee Feedback
Trainee Ramkumar Yadav shared his experience at the facility, highlighting how structured training can transform employment prospects for local youth. He explained that participants receive step-by-step guidance on identifying common operational failures, including compressor breakdowns, refrigerant leaks, and wiring faults. Ramkumar Yadav stated, "Here, comprehensive knowledge about problems arising in ACs and refrigerators is being provided very effectively." He emphasized that the skills learned will enable trainees to set up independent service centers without needing external technical assistance.
Another participant, Rishabh Jain, who has completed his graduation, explained his decision to pursue technical training instead of waiting for traditional job openings. Upon learning about the free vocational program in Firozabad, he enrolled to acquire marketable skills. Rishabh Jain stated, "After completing the training, I will open my own shop and start a business." He noted that the practical modules have given him the confidence needed to manage an independent enterprise.
Financial Assistance and Long-Term Guidance
Anand Mohan, the in-charge of the Rural Self Employment Training Institute, elaborated on the broader vision behind these capacity-building initiatives. He noted that the center regularly conducts self-employment training modules for youth and women to help strengthen their financial stability. The ongoing 30-day AC and refrigerator repair workshop has attracted participants from various parts of Firozabad district.
Anand Mohan explained that the institute's responsibility does not end with the completion of the 30-day course. Rather, the facility provides continuous encouragement and operational backing to trainees for two full years after graduation. Anand Mohan stated, "After completing the training, financial assistance and loan facilities are provided to help youth establish their business." If any young entrepreneur faces financial hurdles during the setup phase, the institute assists them in securing credit through government schemes, ensuring that capital shortages do not prevent them from achieving financial independence.
