Domanlal Korsewada, the sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the legislative assembly representing the Ahiwara constituency in Chhattisgarh, passed away on October 30. He was undergoing medical care at a private hospital located in Hyderabad, where he breathed his last. The news of his demise led to widespread grief across the Durg district and adjoining regions. During his political career, he was elected twice to the state assembly on a BJP ticket.
More Than Two Decades Dedicated to the Teaching Profession
Prior to stepping into competitive electoral politics, Domanlal Korsewada was a devoted educator. Born on August 12, 1948, he dedicated around 26 years to teaching and shaping the future of thousands of young students. His career in education commenced in 1972 as an assistant teacher. Over time, he earned a promotion to the position of lecturer, continuing his pedagogical duties until his formal retirement in 1998. Following his retirement from academic life, he turned his focus toward public service and established a strong personal standing among the constituents of Ahiwara.
Electoral Milestones and Assembly Victories in Ahiwara
After concluding his service in education, Domanlal Korsewada entered active politics through the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party fielded him as its official candidate from the Ahiwara assembly segment in the 2008 state elections. In his maiden electoral contest, he secured a decisive victory, defeating Congress candidate Nirmal Kosre by a margin of approximately 25,000 votes. In the 2023 assembly elections, the party once again entrusted him with the nomination for Ahiwara. The electorate reposed their confidence in him, electing him as a legislator for the second time.
Chief Minister and State Party Chief Express Condolences
Expressing deep grief over the legislator's passing, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated on social media platform X that he was stunned by the news. The Chief Minister fondly recalled Korsewada's unassuming personality, his empathy toward public concerns, and his unyielding dedication to the party organization. Bharatiya Janata Party state president Kiran Singh Deo also termed the demise an irreparable loss for the entire party, emphasizing that his contributions inside the assembly and within the organizational framework would always be remembered.

Following the sudden passing of the lawmaker, the Bharatiya Janata Party postponed its organizational event in the state capital. The 'Save Democracy Rally', which was slated to take place in Raipur on October 31, has been deferred. The demonstration is likely to be rescheduled for November 5.
