Security arrangements in Jaipur's high-security Civil Lines VVIP zone have come under intense scrutiny following a brazen burglary at the official residence of Chhabra BJP MLA and former minister Pratap Singh Singhvi. Situated on Hari Marg, the politician's home was targeted by a masked intruder in the dead of night, who managed to escape with cash and artificial jewelry. According to initial estimates, the stolen cash is valued between Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh, sparking serious concerns among local law enforcement agencies regarding the safety of prominent residential sectors.
What makes the incident particularly alarming is that more than ten family members were fast asleep inside the house while the crime was being committed. Despite the heavy occupancy, none of the residents woke up or caught any hint of the intrusion. Preliminary investigations reveal that the perpetrator sneaked in from the rear side of the property by breaking the iron grille of the kitchen window. Remarkably, the suspect spent approximately an hour inside the premises before fleeing with the loot, leaving the household in utter shock when the theft was discovered the following morning.
At the time of the incident, BJP MLA Pratap Singh Singhvi was away from Jaipur. He was stationed in his home constituency of Chhabra in connection with ongoing Panchayat elections. Upon being informed about the burglary at his state capital residence in the morning, he immediately contacted the Jaipur Police Commissioner over the phone. Acting swiftly on the complaint, a team from the Sodala police station, accompanied by DCP South Rajarshi Raj, rushed to the spot to assess the situation and initiate evidence collection.
To ensure a thorough probe, a Forensic Science Laboratory team was summoned to the location. The forensic experts scanned the area and recovered crucial evidence, including fingerprints, to aid the investigation. Meanwhile, law enforcement personnel are scouring CCTV camera footage from surrounding streets to identify the masked suspect and trace the exact route he took to enter and escape the neighborhood. Given the bold manner in which the kitchen window grille was breached, authorities are analyzing every potential angle to track down the culprit.
The incident has triggered widespread debate over the efficacy of security protocols in an area that houses some of the state's most high-profile figures. The residence on Hari Marg is located approximately 300 meters away from the Raj Bhavan and roughly 500 meters from the Chief Minister's official residence. Several other ministers and public representatives also live in the immediate vicinity, which is typically monitored heavily. The ease with which an intruder breached this high-security pocket, spent an hour inside, and vanished without waking anyone has raised urgent questions about urban policing and neighborhood safety.
