A severe incident occurred in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district during an anti-insurgency security drill when an explosive device detonated during neutralisation. Security personnel operating in the forested terrain had detected an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoists along their patrol path. While the troops were actively carrying out the procedure to defuse the munition safely, the device unexpectedly went off, causing injuries to four jawans on the spot.
Incident Under Konta Police Station Limits
The blast took place within the territorial jurisdiction of Konta police station in Sukma. All four affected personnel belong to the 50th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Following the sudden explosion, standard operating protocols were initiated by the contingent to secure the perimeter and prevent further harm to the unit operating in the area.
Evacuation to Community Health Centre
The injured soldiers were immediately moved from the site and taken to the Konta Community Health Centre, where medical teams began administering required treatments. The Inspector General of Police for Bastar range confirmed the details of the explosion and the injuries sustained by the personnel. Precautionary monitoring and area-clearing activities continue in the sector.
