The District and Sessions Court in Jagdalpur has sentenced Neeloo Mandavi to life imprisonment following his conviction for the murder of his sister-in-law and a brutal attack on his older brother. The judicial ruling comes approximately one and a half years after the violent domestic incident occurred. The court awarded life imprisonment for the murder of Jaimani Mandavi alongside seven years of rigorous imprisonment for assaulting his brother Bonduk Mandavi.
Domestic Dispute over Family Visit Escalated into Violence
The incident traces back nearly eighteen months ago when a disagreement broke out within the household regarding Jaimani Mandavi's desire to visit her parents' home. Her brother-in-law, Neeloo Mandavi, harbored deep resentment over her persistent insistence on traveling to her maternal house. The tension culminated on the day of the assault when Neeloo arrived home armed with an iron rod and a hammer. In an uncontrolled fit of rage, he launched a violent assault on Jaimani, repeatedly striking her head and face with the weapons and inflicting severe injuries.
Attacking the Brother Who Intervened
Hearing the screams from inside the house, Neeloo's elder brother, Bonduk Mandavi, rushed into the room to protect his wife from the brutality. However, Neeloo showed no hesitation in turning the weapons on his own sibling. He attacked Bonduk violently, leaving him injured as well. Covered in blood, Jaimani was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical intervention, but she succumbed to her severe injuries during treatment.
Court Trial and Final Sentencing
Following the crime, law enforcement officials gathered physical evidence from the scene and submitted a comprehensive charge sheet to the judiciary. Over the course of a one-and-a-half-year trial at the District and Sessions Court, the prosecution presented key witnesses and critical evidence linking Neeloo to the murder and assault. Convinced by the strength of the evidence, the judge found the accused guilty on both counts.
The court sentenced Neeloo Mandavi to life imprisonment for the murder of Jaimani Mandavi, accompanied by a fine of ₹1,000. Additionally, for the assault on his brother Bonduk Mandavi, the court handed down a seven-year term of rigorous imprisonment along with another fine of ₹1,000. The judgment brings closure to a tragic trial that destroyed a family due to an outburst of unrestrained rage.
