Following this meeting, intense speculations arose in political circles that the star fast bowler might enter electoral politics and contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Amid these political speculations, Hasin Jahan has issued a direct and open challenge to Mohammed Shami regarding the elections. During an interaction with the media, she stated that whichever constituency Mohammed Shami or his brother chooses to contest from, she will run against them from that very same seat. She added that she is currently in touch with multiple political parties and is evaluating her options. She claimed that her husband's relative does not have the independent standing to fight polls alone, meaning Mohammed Shami will be backing it from behind the scenes, prompting her decision to contest from wherever he runs.
Revisiting Past Allegations and Legal Battles
During the conversation, Hasin Jahan reiterated several severe allegations against the cricketer. For context, the legal and domestic battle between the couple erupted in March 2018 when Hasin Jahan leveled grave accusations against Mohammed Shami, including domestic violence, physical assault, extramarital affairs, and match-fixing. The explosive revelations created a massive uproar, and the two have been locked in a bitter legal struggle ever since that fateful event.
Court Proceedings and Maintenance Orders
When the controversy initially broke out, Hasin Jahan had shared purported chat screenshots on social media platforms to support her claims. Acting on her formal complaint, law enforcement authorities registered a case against the cricketer. At present, the entire matter remains sub judice. The court has directed Mohammed Shami to pay a fixed monthly maintenance allowance to Hasin Jahan and their daughter to cover their financial needs while the legal proceedings continue.
