He is currently on a tour of South Africa alongside Mumbai Indians assistant coach Paras Mhambrey, working closely with a contingent of young cricketers from the franchise. Operating out of the Mumbai-based franchise's facilities throughout the year, he will coordinate with the existing coaching staff to achieve performance objectives and foster continuous improvement.

His only brief departure came during the 2016 and 2017 seasons when he served as technical director for the franchise then known as Delhi Daredevils, which is currently recognized as Delhi Capitals. He subsequently returned to Rajasthan Royals in 2018 to take charge as Director of Cricket, maintaining that position through 2025.

Before transitioning into management and coaching, Zubin Bharucha played competitive cricket himself. He represented Mumbai in age-group tournaments and made his first-class debut during the 1992-93 season. Over the course of his playing days, he participated in 17 first-class matches and 11 List A fixtures before his playing career concluded in the 1994-95 season.
