A remarkable convergence of sports, entertainment, and social responsibility is set to take place in the national capital as prominent public figures step onto the cricket pitch to combat hunger. Delhi's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium will host a distinctive four-day cricket tournament from October 22 to October 25. The core mission behind this sporting spectacle is to champion the ‘Hunger Free Bharat’ initiative, leveraging the universal appeal of cricket to raise widespread public awareness about food insecurity.
Prominent Figures Join the Sporting Initiative
In a departure from his routine yoga sessions, yoga guru Swami Ramdev will wield a cricket bat on the pitch during the tournament. The event will also feature Acharya Balkrishna, veteran actor Rakesh Bedi (widely recognised as Jameel Mamu from Dhurandhar), Vindu Dara Singh, and Mahamandaleshwar Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, alongside several other distinguished personalities from diverse fields. Actor Rakesh Bedi will take the field leading a squad composed of artists and entertainment figures.
Organised Under the Aegis of Constitution Club of India
The sporting event is being conducted under the auspices of the Constitution Club of India. Event organiser Arvind Kumar explained that the primary motivation is to channel the country's passion for cricket toward highlighting a pressing societal priority. By engaging cultural icons and popular figures, the organizers intend to draw attention to vulnerable sections of society and mobilize collective action against daily hunger.
Every 10 Runs Scored to Fund Meals for 100 People
The structure of the matches directly supports charitable relief through a dedicated scoring benchmark. Every 10 runs accumulated during play are linked to providing meals for 100 underprivileged people. Each boundary and scoring shot on the ground will directly contribute to feeding hungry citizens across communities. This blend of athletic competition, entertainment, and public service serves as a practical blueprint to strengthen the nationwide push for a hunger-free India.
