Sustaining an ultra-aggressive batting approach and regularly crossing giant totals in T20 cricket is demanding for any leader. Shreyas Iyer has reached a major milestone on that front, surpassing iconic former skipper MS Dhoni to become the captain with the most 200-plus team totals in the history of the 20-over format.
Setting a New Benchmark for 200-Plus Totals
Iyer now sits at the very top of the list of captains whose sides have posted 200 or more runs in T20 cricket. Under his leadership, teams have breached the 200-run mark on 37 occasions. With this, he overtook MS Dhoni, whose sides crossed the barrier 36 times during his captaincy tenure.
What sets Iyer apart in this statistical feat is the speed with which he achieved it. While Dhoni accumulated 36 such instances across 331 matches as skipper, Iyer reached 37 in just 133 fixtures, underlining the attacking approach his sides maintain.
