This is not the first major development around Agarkar's contract. Last year, on 21 August 2025, just two days after the Indian squad was announced for the Asia Cup 2025, the BCCI revised Agarkar's contract and extended it up to June 2026. Around the same time, the board was also preparing to remove one selector. Weeks before that, on 28 July 2025, reports emerged that Morne Morkel and Ryan ten Doeschate could be sacked from their jobs, while a major update on Gautam Gambhir also surfaced around the same period.
