A chilling crime has come to light in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, where a married woman and her alleged paramour reportedly plotted the cold-blooded murder of her husband. According to police investigations, the heinous act was meticulously planned, starting with sedatives mixed into alcohol followed by a vicious physical assault. The brutal episode has sent shockwaves through the local community.
The Shop Connection and Illicit Affair
Circle Officer of Baraut Anshu Jain stated that the primary accused, Sikandar, rented a shop belonging to the victim, Pramod alias Mogli, in Kotana village to run a motorcycle repair business. During this time, Sikandar grew close to Pramod's wife, Urmila, leading to an illicit affair. Police investigations indicate that the two had been secretly meeting for roughly one and a half to two years. When Pramod's son eventually discovered the affair, Sikandar stopped visiting their home, but the two continued communicating extensively over the phone.
Plans to Flee to Dehradun
Investigators uncovered that the pair had been hatching a plan to run away together to Dehradun, viewing the husband as an obstacle to their relationship. To clear the path, the conspiracy was executed on October 18. Urmila allegedly provided the sedatives to Sikandar and instructed him to mix them into alcohol for Pramod. As per the police account, Sikandar handed Pramod a quarter bottle of liquor near a primary school and lured him to his tubewell, where the spiked drinks were consumed.
Brutal Attack with a Broken Bottle
Authorities revealed that when Pramod resisted after realizing the deception, Sikandar unleashed a violent assault. He struck Pramod on the head three to four times with an empty liquor bottle until it shattered, and then continued the attack using the jagged edges of the broken glass. The grievously injured victim was subsequently dragged into a nearby sugarcane field, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Ramlila Visit and Police Encounter
In a bizarre twist, after committing the murder, Sikandar calmly went to watch a local Ramlila performance. Meanwhile, Urmila sent a WhatsApp message inquiring whether the task had been successfully completed. Police stated that Sikandar confirmed the murder via text and saved screenshots of the conversation on his phone. On Tuesday night, during a police cordon in the forests of Luhari village, Sikandar allegedly opened fire on the officers. He was apprehended after taking a bullet to the leg in retaliatory fire. Law enforcement recovered a.315 bore pistol, a live cartridge, and a spent shell from his possession. Both suspects have now been taken into custody as the investigation proceeds.
