A shocking incident has emerged from the Belagavi district of Karnataka, where a petty dispute over extra chicken pieces resulted in a brutal murder, with a man allegedly stabbing his close friend to death. This grim episode unfolded in Hunashyal PG village, located within the Mudalagi taluka of Belagavi district.
Migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh
The victim, Sitaram, hailed from Kabirganj village in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. He was employed at the Priya Steel Company in Mudalagi. Working alongside him at the same establishment was his friend and fellow villager, Arun Kumar. Both had relocated to Karnataka for employment and shared a friendly bond, leading them to plan a shared meal and gathering.
Argument over chicken portions
As the two friends sat down to eat together, a petty verbal spat erupted over the distribution of chicken pieces in their meal. The root of the argument was simply that one of them had consumed more pieces of chicken than the other. What started as a minor disagreement quickly escalated into a heated altercation. The trivial issue of food portions made Arun Kumar lose his temper completely and snap in sudden rage.
Fatal stab wound to the chest
Consumed by anger, Arun lost control of his actions, pulled out a knife without a second thought, and thrust it directly into Sitaram's chest. The victim collapsed onto the ground, bleeding profusely from the severe wound. The sudden transition from a casual meal to a fatal attack stunned anyone connected to the immediate aftermath.
Fabricated story to hide the crime
Overwhelmed by panic after committing the assault, Arun concocted a false narrative to pass off the murder as an accidental fall. He rushed the injured Sitaram to a government hospital in Gokak. To mislead the attending doctors and law enforcement officers, he claimed that Sitaram had accidentally fallen from a building, resulting in his critical injuries.
Police investigation cracks the case
The suspicious nature of Arun's fabricated story immediately raised red flags for the medical staff and the police. Officers rushed to the hospital, detained Arun Kumar without delay, and subjected him to intense questioning. Under strict police interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed that he had stabbed Sitaram during a fight over food portions.

Meanwhile, due to the critical and deep nature of the chest wound, Sitaram succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
