Police in Haryana's Nuh district achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against illicit narcotics by arresting a drug trafficker with 1.597 kg of high-grade heroin. Executed by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) unit from Tawdu, the operation resulted in the seizure of contraband estimated to be worth approximately Rs 3.15 crore in the international market. Authorities also confiscated a white Swift car that was being utilized by the suspect to transport the illegal consignment.
Targeted Intelligence and Strategic Barricading
The operation was initiated following specific intelligence received by Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar, in-charge of the Tawdu CIA team. The confidential report revealed that Wajid alias Kala, son of Islam and a resident of Kotla village under the Akeda police station, was actively engaged in peddling heroin. According to the information, Wajid had procured a substantial quantity of narcotics and was traveling in his vehicle via Palla village along the Nalhar Medical Road toward Kotla. Responding swiftly, the police team established a surprise checkpoint near Lala Amarnath Colony on Nalhar Road.
At approximately 7:20 AM, the police officers spotted the targeted white Swift car approaching from the direction of Nalhar Medical College. When signaled to stop for inspection, the driver attempted to evade the barricade by abruptly steering the car toward Lala Amarnath Colony Road. However, the alert police team acted promptly to intercept the vehicle and secured the driver without giving him an opportunity to escape.
Discovery of 1.597 Kg Heroin Inside the Vehicle
During the mandated search procedure of the intercepted car, officers found a black polythene bag placed adjacent to the handbrake lever. A closer inspection revealed 30 individual white polythene packets (bits) packed inside the main bag, each containing heroin. The total weight of the recovered substance measured exactly 1.597 kilograms, carrying an estimated street value of Rs 3.15 crore. The suspect was formally identified as Wajid alias Kala, and a criminal case under the NDPS Act was registered at the Nuh City Police Station.
Anti-Drug Drive and SIT Investigation
Superintendent of Police Dr. Arpit Jain stated that the enforcement drive against illicit narcotics is continuing with full intensity across Nuh district. Earlier, during a six-day special enforcement drive conducted from 17 to 23 August, the police had registered 14 separate cases and arrested 23 individuals involved in drug trade. To completely dismantle the trafficking supply chain, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by an Additional SP has been constituted. Police plan to present the arrested suspect in court to obtain custody remand for detailed interrogation, aiming to trace upstream suppliers and key operatives in the illicit drug network.
