Body Recovered From a Flat in Bharthal Village

According to information shared by police officials, the deceased has been identified as Nazia Khanam, who was serving as an Assistant Section Officer in the Ministry of Defence. Her body was recovered hanging from the ceiling fan inside a rented accommodation located in Bharthal village of Dwarka on the morning of August 21. Upon receiving information about this unexpected incident, the local police team acted swiftly, reached the spot, and took the body into their custody.

The sequence of events unfolded on August 21 at 4:21 AM when a PCR call was received at the Sector-23 police station reporting the tragic death. Following the call, a police team rushed to the scene immediately. Subsequently, the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate was informed about the incident, and the body was shifted to the mortuary of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital to ascertain the exact cause of death through a post-mortem examination.

Discrepancy Between Initial Statements and Later Complaints

During the course of the inquiry, police noted that on August 21, family members of Nazia Khanam appeared before the executive magistrate and submitted their written statements. Interestingly, in those initial statements, the family did not level any allegations against the deceased woman's in-laws. However, the situation changed entirely the very next day on August 22, when Nazia Khanam's parents appeared before the SDM once again, recorded fresh statements, and submitted a formal complaint.

Serious Allegations Against Husband and In-Laws

Acting upon the complaint filed by the parents, Delhi Police registered an FIR at the Sector-23 Dwarka police station on August 22 and commenced a detailed investigation. According to the FIR, the father alleged that Nazia Khanam was subjected to continuous physical and mental harassment by her husband Mohammad Azam Ali Khan, her mother-in-law Samimun Nisha, and her father-in-law Babar Ali Khan.

Nazia Khanam Was Three Months Pregnant

The complaint further alleged that the in-laws mistreated Nazia Khanam, subjected her to physical assault, and intimidated her. Additionally, the complaint stated that Nazia Khanam was about three months pregnant and had informed her family members over the phone about the alleged harassment she was facing.

Husband's Account of Events Prior to the Incident

According to the police, the deceased woman's husband, Mohammad Azam Ali Khan, told investigators that an argument had broken out between the couple prior to the incident. As per Azam's statement, Nazia Khanam allegedly locked him inside a room and walked away into another room. Following this, Mohammad Azam Ali Khan alerted the landlord, who helped him get out of the room.
