Security forces achieved a major breakthrough in south Kashmir's Kulgam district by apprehending two individuals linked to terrorist networks. The arrests took place during routine checkpoint checks as security personnel were monitoring movement in the area. The two suspects drew the attention of the deployed troops due to their suspicious movements, prompting the personnel to intercept them for questioning and verification.
Following the interception, a thorough search of the suspects led to the recovery of incriminating materials, including a pistol, two grenades, and additional ammunition. The presence of these lethal items points toward plans to disrupt peace in the region. Immediately after the recovery, both individuals were taken into custody and shifted to a secure location for further interrogation by security personnel.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Muneeb and Tahir. Intelligence and security agencies are currently interrogating the duo to uncover their broader network and establish their exact association with active terrorist outfits. Investigators are also working to trace the origin of the seized weapons and grenades, determining who supplied the arms and what specific targets the suspects intended to strike.
In the wake of this operation, security grids across the district have been placed on heightened alert. Authorities are examining all possible angles, including whether the suspects intended to orchestrate disruptive incidents during the festive period. Continuous questioning is underway to extract further leads and apprehend any remaining accomplices operating within the local network.
