A major crackdown against illegal drug trafficking has been executed in the Gondia district of Maharashtra. The local crime branch team successfully apprehended two individuals from neighboring Madhya Pradesh, seizing a substantial quantity of contraband from their possession. Authorities confiscated a total of 2 kilograms and 915 grams of fresh, wet ganja that was intended for illicit distribution. Along with the narcotics, law enforcement also seized a moped scooter and other associated materials, with the total value of the confiscated items estimated at 168,250 rupees.
Ganja Wrapped and Taped Directly to Bodies
This operation was carried out under the direct guidance of Superintendent of Police Gorakh Bhamre. A specialized team from the local crime branch had set up a strategic blockade within the jurisdiction of the Gondia rural police station. The checkpoint was established on the route leading from Raitoli near the railway station toward the rest house. During this surveillance, two individuals approaching on a two-wheeler exhibited suspicious behavior. Police personnel promptly intercepted them and initiated a thorough physical search.
Contraband Concealed Inside Tiffin Boxes and Clothing
During the frisking process, the suspects were identified as Gomaji Chaudhary and Laxmichand Baghel, both residents of Shivanaghat in the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. The subsequent investigation revealed an elaborate concealment method. The duo had taped the contraband directly to their stomachs, backs, and legs using plastic wrapping to evade detection. Furthermore, an inspection of their carry bags yielded additional quantities of ganja stashed inside three separate tiffin boxes.
Total Seizures Valued at Over One Lakh Rupees
In the course of this decisive action, the local crime branch recovered the entire stock of 2 kilograms and 915 grams of wet ganja, alongside the moped and other items. The cumulative worth of all seized assets stands at 168,250 rupees. Police administration across the Gondia district has intensified enforcement measures to clamp down firmly on individuals engaging in the sale and trafficking of illegal narcotics.
