According to law enforcement officials, the case unfolded in Baghutha village under the jurisdiction of the Bhuragaon police station in Assam's Morigaon district. A 48-year-old widow lived in the same village alongside her six children. She was involved in a romantic relationship with a local man named Bubul Boro. Once details of this affair surfaced, villagers convened a council meeting on Sunday to address the situation. The gathering decided that the woman and Bubul Boro must marry, with the council dictating that Boro would bring her to his home on Monday. Following this directive, women from the area initiated wedding preparations. Pressured by the panchayat, Bubul Boro went through with the marriage, but harbored sinister intentions.
The Grim Reality After Marriage
Investigators revealed that although the woman moved into Bubul Boro's residence following the wedding, her life quickly deteriorated into a nightmare. Not only Bubul Boro, but his brothers as well began harassing and tormenting the woman. This relentless mistreatment culminated in the woman's death on Monday night. Following the murder, the accused reportedly kept the corpse hidden inside the house for two days in an attempt to conceal their crime. During this period, local residents remained completely unaware of the tragedy unfolding next door.
Discovery Through Foul Odor
The dark secret unraveled when neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from the house and alerted the authorities. Upon receiving the complaint, police rushed to the scene and recovered the victim's body from inside the residence. The remains were taken into custody and dispatched for a post-mortem examination.
