A shocking incident has come to light from Rohtak district in Haryana, where a married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside a private hotel room along Delhi Road. The deceased has been identified as Ruby, a resident of Kheri Sadh village who was married in Bhagwatipur village of Jhajjar district. According to officials, Ruby had arrived at the hotel on Tuesday morning accompanied by a young man from her native village. Shortly after checking in, her companion left the premises and failed to return. In a further escalation of events, the suspect attempted to take his own life at his home hours later and remains hospitalized in critical condition. Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
Hotel Check-In Timeline and Unexplained Departure
According to the preliminary details, Ruby arrived at the private establishment on Delhi Road in Rohtak early Tuesday morning. She was accompanied by a youth named Neeraj, who also hails from Kheri Sadh village. The duo completed the check-in formalities at the reception and moved to their allotted room. Within a short duration of entering the room, Neeraj stepped out, informing the hotel staff that he had an urgent task nearby and would return shortly. However, he did not return even after several hours had elapsed.
Neeraj's prolonged absence sparked suspicion among the hotel staff. Around midday, employees repeatedly knocked on the door of the room to inquire about their stay. Receiving no response or movement from inside, the hotel management became apprehensive about a potential mishap and promptly notified the local police station. A police contingent arrived at the spot shortly thereafter and opened the room using a master key. Upon entering, officers discovered Ruby lying motionless inside the room.
Forensic Examination and Strangulation Suspicions
The discovery of the woman's body inside the hotel caused widespread alarm in the locality. Police immediately secured the room to prevent any tampering with physical evidence and summoned a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Forensic experts systematically inspected every section of the room, collecting fingerprints, biological samples, and other crucial physical evidence. Based on the preliminary inspection of the body, investigating personnel suspect that Ruby was choked to death. However, authorities emphasized that the exact cause of death will only be established following the receipt of the post-mortem report.
The police took custody of the body and dispatched it to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGI) Rohtak for an autopsy examination. Simultaneously, dedicated police teams are reviewing the hotel's guest register, booking credentials, and footage from CCTV cameras installed across the building corridors and entrance. The surveillance footage is being analyzed to map out the exact timestamps of Neeraj's arrival, movement within the building, and quick exit.
Suspect Attempts Suicide Following Flight from Scene
The investigation took a major turn when it was revealed that Neeraj proceeded directly to his ancestral house in Kheri Sadh after leaving the hotel premises. Shortly after reaching home, he attempted suicide. Family members found him in a critical, life-threatening condition and immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital for emergency medical care. Attending doctors reported that his medical condition remains extremely fragile.
Neeraj's suicide attempt has added a complex layer to the ongoing probe. A police team has been stationed at the medical facility to monitor his health status and record his official statement as soon as medical professionals deem him fit to speak. Investigators are also interviewing family members and local villagers to gather details about the nature of the relationship between Ruby and Neeraj.
Key Angles of Investigation and Next Legal Steps
Rohtak police are examining the case from all possible angles. Investigators are working to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy, aiming to clarify the relationship between Ruby and Neeraj and their intent behind renting the hotel room. Authorities are also investigating whether an argument broke out inside the room prior to the death.
Police officials stated that statements from Ruby's in-laws in Bhagwatipur, Jhajjar, as well as her parents' family in Kheri Sadh, are being recorded. Further legal action and registration of relevant charges will proceed once the comprehensive autopsy report from PGI Rohtak is handed over to the investigating team. Authorities assured that a thorough and impartial investigation is underway based on empirical and forensic evidence.
