The Kalindi Kunj area of South East Delhi witnessed severe panic on Wednesday following a daylight fatal assault near Shriram Chowk. An individual riding a scooter was deliberately run down and stabbed repeatedly along a busy thoroughfare. The deceased has been identified as Shahid Hussain, recorded as a bad character at the Shaheen Bagh police station. The entire sequence of violence was captured by a nearby surveillance camera, and the resulting footage quickly spread across social platforms, triggering questions regarding street vigilance.
Dispute Inside Tihar Jail Triggered Planned Ambush
Initial findings indicate that the lethal confrontation stemmed directly from a past altercation that unfolded while the parties were lodged in Tihar Jail. Shahid Hussain had reportedly stepped out for personal work following a confrontation near an eatery in the Basantpur neighborhood. Unbeknownst to him, rival associates had charted out an ambush to settle their past grievance. As soon as Shahid reached the vicinity of Shriram Chowk on his scooter, the awaiting assailants executed their planned attack.
Scooter Knocked Down Followed by Knife Attacks
Footage from security cameras reveals that four individuals arrived on a newly purchased black Splendor motorcycle and intercepted the two-wheeler. They struck the scooter forcefully, causing Shahid to collapse onto the asphalt. Without hesitation, the assailants surrounded him and launched an aggressive barrage of knife strikes. While several passersby looked on from the sidewalk, none intervened to halt the assault. Having executed the attack within moments, the four assailants restarted their motorcycle and fled the scene unimpeded.
Victim Declared Dead and Suspects Taken into Custody
Upon receiving word of the assault, patrolling Constable Awdhesh from the Kalindi Kunj police station reached the scene and transported the critically injured victim to Apollo Hospital. Medical personnel at the facility examined him and pronounced him dead. Law enforcement subsequently initiated searches across the area. According to DCP South East Vineet Kumar, police acted promptly and detained Shabid Malik alias Monu, identified as a bad character associated with the Kalindi Kunj police station. In total, 4 accused persons have been arrested, and further investigation into the case is actively underway.
