Bitcoin maintained its position close to the $80,000 mark as upward price momentum persisted despite a noticeable cooling in spot market activity. The broader crypto market experienced a mix of consolidation and shifting capital flows, yet the leading digital asset demonstrated underlying resilience.
Cooling Spot Market Activity and Declining Volumes
Spot market participation showed clear signs of slowing down during the week. According to Glassnode, the spot cumulative volume delta dropped by 124%, shifting from $279.7 million down to -$67.2 million. This transition into negative territory suggested that selling pressure was beginning to outweigh buying interest among active market participants. Furthermore, overall spot trading volume decreased by 29.3%, falling from $8.7 billion to $6.2 billion over a seven-day period. This reduction in volume pointed to diminished retail participation as consolidation took precedence over aggressive breakout attempts.
Futures Market Dynamics and Leverage
In contrast to the spot market, the futures sector presented a more complex picture. Futures open interest increased by 2.4% over the week, moving from $35.9 billion to $36.7 billion. This metric remained situated above its high statistical band, indicating elevated participation and sustained speculative engagement among traders. These contrasting signals highlighted a market environment where leverage remained high even as directional conviction began to soften.
Institutional Demand via Spot ETFs
Institutional participation channeled through US spot Bitcoin ETFs remained supportive despite a notable slowdown from previous levels. Inflows into these regulated investment vehicles declined by 50.72%, dropping from $1.9 billion down to $946 million. Nevertheless, this latest inflow figure remained comfortably above the metric's high statistical band, reflecting continued institutional appetite for regulated Bitcoin exposure.
On-chain capital flow indicators also exhibited strengthening characteristics. The Realized Cap Change surged 293.8% over the past week, shifting from negative 0.2% to positive 0.3%. Additionally, the short-term holder to long-term holder supply ratio climbed from 13.3% to 13.7%, while the hot capital share increased from 24.9% to 26.7%. Market analysts noted that this stable positioning points toward a balanced holder base without excessive speculative churn among newer participants.
Broader Market Movements and Related Assets
Other digital assets also recorded notable developments. XRP ticked upward as bullish traders successfully defended the 200-day EMA support level at $1.35, supported by nine consecutive days of inflows into US-listed XRP ETFs. However, escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, rising crude oil prices, and persistent inflation concerns dampened overall risk appetite across global markets, potentially capping near-term upside gains for major cryptocurrencies. Meanwhile, Pi Network traded around $0.0900, maintaining its consolidation above the $0.0836 support floor as development on its testnet continued.
