Efforts to expand the high-speed rail network across various parts of the country are progressing at a rapid pace. Preparations to launch the nation's first bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad are currently in their final stages. Authorities aim to operate high-speed trains on certain sections of this route by the year 2027. In line with this expansion, the central government has also formulated plans to construct a bullet train corridor passing through Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Major Update From Railway Minister
Ahead of the Diwali and Chhath festivals, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a significant update regarding this project. He stated that work is progressing swiftly on the plan to run a bullet train connecting Delhi to Patna via Kanpur and Lucknow. The rail route between Delhi and Patna remains one of the busiest railway corridors in the country, and introducing a high-speed train on this section will provide substantial relief to hundreds of thousands of commuters.
Drastic Reduction in Travel Time
At present, traveling by train from Delhi to Patna takes approximately 12 hours. However, the introduction of the bullet train will enable passengers to complete the journey in a mere 4.5 hours. This feat, which premium superfast trains like Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, and Duronto have been unable to achieve, will finally become possible through the bullet train, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration for residents of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
