Tensions have escalated in the national capital ahead of a planned demonstration in the heart of the city. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed on Thursday that personnel from the Delhi Police and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have placed his movements under continuous surveillance. Addressing an urgent late-night press briefing in Jhandewalan, he expressed apprehension that law enforcement authorities might take him into custody before the scheduled 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march at Connaught Place on Friday.
Speaking to reporters during the late-night interaction, Dipke alleged that law enforcement and intelligence personnel had encircled the residential premises where he has been staying, closely monitoring every individual entering or leaving the building.
Allegations of Unmarked Vehicles and Cordoned Streets
Detangling the situation at his accommodation, Dipke stated during the press conference that security personnel have surrounded the house from all sides. He claimed that officers from the Delhi Police and IB are constantly patrolling the alleyways surrounding the property. According to his account, unmarked vehicles without license plates have been trailing him whenever he steps outside. He further stated that personnel have been circling the residence, questioning the on-site watchman, and collecting regular updates regarding his daily routine.
Commitment to the Flag Hoisting Event Despite Detention Fears
Despite the heightened scrutiny, Dipke asserted that the party remains resolute in executing its scheduled program to hoist the national flag at Central Park in Connaught Place on October 16. Addressing the possibility of immediate preventive action, he said, 'Tonight or tomorrow morning, the Delhi Police might pick me up.' He emphasized his readiness to face incarceration, stating that if hoisting the national tricolour in the country leads to imprisonment, they are fully prepared for it.
Criticism of Central Park Closure and Previous Restrictions
The CJP founder strongly criticized authorities for shutting down Central Park ahead of the scheduled gathering, alleging that official restrictions were specifically imposed to dismantle the march. Drawing a comparison with an earlier demonstration held on October 10, Dipke pointed out that public transit and internet connectivity had faced severe disruption on that occasion, while extensive barricading was deployed across Delhi to halt public movement.
Appeal to Citizens Amid Public Space Restrictions
Reiterating his appeal to the public, Abhijeet Dipke urged citizens to carry the national tricolour and turn out at Central Park in Connaught Place for the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march. Meanwhile, administrative authorities through the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) have confirmed that Central Park will remain closed to the public on both Friday and Saturday.
