The administrative decision to halt physical classes and office routines stems from the extensive arrangements, high-level security protocols, and logistical planning required for the 18th BRICS Summit. This international gathering is scheduled to take place on September 12 and 13 at the Bharat Mandapam complex located within Pragati Maidan. Top world leaders, heads of state, and foreign diplomats will attend the summit. To facilitate the secure and uninterrupted movement of international guest motorcades while shielding the general public from severe traffic congestion, authorities deemed the official closure necessary.
Strict Security Measures along VIP Routes and Hotel Corridors
While the primary sessions of the BRICS Summit are slated for September 12 and 13, foreign dignitaries and global delegations will start landing in the capital on September 11. High security corridors and frequent VIP carcade movements will be operational from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport to key transit nodes including Dhaula Kuan, ITC Maurya, Taj Palace, and several diplomatic hotels in Lutyens' Delhi. Allowing routine school buses, commercial vans, and commuter vehicles on these routes on Friday would have resulted in gridlock across major arterial roads. The Directorate of Education (DoE) of the Delhi government released an official circular detailing the mandate for September 11. The closure notice applies universally across all recognized private un-aided institutions, government schools, and aided schools operating in the capital. To coordinate the movement of international delegations smoothly, Delhi Traffic Police mapped out an extensive traffic management plan.
