Law enforcement authorities in the Dwarka area have successfully dismantled a highly organized and large-scale multi-state cyber fraud network, arresting six key individuals in the process. According to police findings, this criminal syndicate operated across multiple states in the country and was connected to numerous fraudulent schemes. Investigators have linked this network to 89 distinct cyber crime complaints registered in various regions, accumulating a staggering total fraud amount of approximately Rs 83.23 crore. During the course of these coordinated raids, police recovered a massive cache of incriminating evidence, including 109 bank checkbooks and 12 mobile phones. Additionally, several documents related to fake corporate registrations and various bank accounts were seized, highlighting the sophisticated nature of the operation.
Suspicious Bank Account Triggers Investigation
The official probe into this extensive financial scam began under FIR number 101/26 registered at the Dwarka North police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. While analyzing a multitude of complaints available on the national cyber crime reporting portal, authorities flagged a highly suspicious bank account registered at the Yes Bank branch located in Dwarka Sector-23A. Subsequent inquiries revealed that this specific account had received substantial sums of money siphoned off through cyber frauds committed in distant states such as Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. The perpetrators utilized this account as a crucial conduit to circulate illegally acquired funds through multiple layers before eventually converting them into cash.
Mule Accounts and Shell Companies
Further investigation exposed the syndicate's modus operandi of opening bank accounts and business firms under fictitious names and fraudulent credentials. The illicit funds were rapidly routed through numerous accounts to obscure the money trail before being withdrawn in cash. Police stated that several of these mule bank accounts were opened by luring innocent and vulnerable citizens under the false pretext of offering them employment or salary accounts. Financial institutions such as Yes Bank, Federal Bank, and the State Bank of India were found to be utilized for maintaining these fraudulent corporate entities and accounts. Authorities identified Chetan Sehrawat as the primary handler of this syndicate who allegedly directed the activities of the other arrested members.
Crores Frozen and Crypto Trail Under Scrutiny
A detailed analysis of the financial records uncovered numerous accounts where the sender and the beneficiary shared identical details, pointing towards a coordinated effort to channel funds circularly. Taking swift legal action, law enforcement officials successfully managed to freeze an amount totaling Rs 1,14,84,394 across these accounts. Furthermore, financial transactions connecting Chetan Sehrawat with Gaurav Kadian came to light, alongside transactions worth approximately Rs 94,000 linked to Mahi Innovative Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The probe also gathered records regarding cash deposits made into SBI accounts by entities such as Sisupal Enterprises and Plentiva Overseas Pvt. Ltd. During interrogation, Chetan Sehrawat admitted to involvement in transactions linked to USDT and Binance, though he reportedly withheld his mobile phone from investigators, prompting ongoing efforts to trace the complete digital money flow.
Flight Attempts and Airport Arrests
Realizing that law enforcement was closing in, key members of the syndicate attempted to flee the country. Following the registration of the FIR, prime accused Chetan Sehrawat fled to Thailand and subsequently escaped to Dubai. Acting swiftly, authorities issued a Look Out Circular against him, which successfully led to his apprehension right at the Indira Gandhi International Airport upon his return attempt. Similarly, another accused named Tarun attempted to escape to Dubai, but due to an active Look Out Circular, he was intercepted and captured at the Mumbai International Airport. During subsequent searches, police also recovered documents pertaining to The Olim Enterprises Private Limited, a firm registered at the same address with Shakti Gurjar and Dharmendra Kumar listed as authorized signatories.
List of Arrested Accused and Ongoing Probe
A total of six individuals have been formally arrested in connection with this extensive cyber fraud case. Police identified Chetan Sehrawat as the primary mastermind running the operations. The other five accused individuals taken into custody include Shakti Gurjar, Dharmendra Kumar, Tarun, Deepak, and Gaurav Kadian. Officials emphasized that the investigation remains active as authorities continue to examine the seized mobile devices, digital wallets, and cryptocurrency transactions to uncover the entire financial footprint of the syndicate. Police have indicated that further arrests and recoveries are expected as the deeper layers of this multi-state fraud network are unraveled.
