A fresh development has emerged in the legal proceedings involving All India Students Association president Neha Bora. After the Delhi High Court dismissed her appeal, she visited the SEM court located at Mandir Marg. During her visit, the magistrate handed over all necessary documents connected to the notice issuance. The high court had earlier directed the executive magistrate to provide these files. The next hearing for this matter is now scheduled for October 28, which is also the deadline for Neha to submit her response to the notice.
Refusal To Sign The Peace Bond
Meanwhile, Neha Bora made it clear that she will not sign the peace bond. The Delhi High Court had recently dismissed her petition challenging the notice issued by the SEM court. The notice had directed her to furnish a bond of 10,000 rupees along with surety to maintain peace during the ongoing proceedings. Following the high court decision not to entertain her plea against the notice, she indicated plans to challenge it further.
High Court Observation On Proceedings
On Friday, Justice Pratibha M. Singh or rather Justice Subramonium Prasad presiding over the bench dismissed the petition challenging the police notice, stating that the writ petition is being dismissed at this stage. The court noted that the special executive magistrate possessed sufficient information and documentation to initiate action against Neha, leaving no ground for the high court to interfere at this preliminary stage.
Understanding The Peace Bond Implications
A peace bond is an undertaking wherein the person signing it agrees to abide by all specified conditions. It also requires the individual to observe whether protests are prohibited based on local orders and applicable laws. If someone who signs the peace bond violates its conditions, they risk being sent to jail.
