A sensational theft incident has been reported from the Karol Bagh area in Delhi, where high-value gold and diamond jewelry worth over Rs 2 crore was stolen from a parked car. The crime occurred while the jewelry trader, accompanied by his son and an employee, had gone to a nearby restaurant for evening dinner. The perpetrators shattered the vehicle's rear window and fled with backpacks containing the precious items. Police have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in the heist.
Arrival in Delhi for Business Marketing
The victim, Kanhaiya Lal, operates a jewelry business under the name 'SKG Kundan Crafts'. On August 18, he arrived in Delhi alongside his son Dhruv Soni and a staff employee for commercial marketing purposes. During their travel, the team carried three backpacks containing gold and diamond jewelry valued at more than Rs 2 crore, a laptop, and an Aadhar card, along with a separate suitcase designated for personal clothing.
On August 19, the group carried out their planned commercial engagements across the capital. They initially visited the Greater Kailash M-Block Market to hold meetings with multiple local jewellers. Following these meetings, they proceeded toward the Karol Bagh commercial district, reaching the area at approximately 4:00 PM.
Theft Executed Within an Hour Outside Canara Bank
At around 5:30 PM, Kanhaiya Lal parked his car directly in front of Canara Bank located on Arya Samaj Road in Karol Bagh. Leaving all three backpacks and the clothing suitcase inside the vehicle, the trio walked to the nearby Bikanerwala restaurant to have their meal.
Upon returning to their vehicle at approximately 7:15 PM, they discovered that the car's rear glass window was broken. All three backpacks containing the expensive jewelry, laptop, and identification documents, as well as the suitcase filled with clothes, had been swept away. The thieves executed the major robbery within a narrow window of roughly one to one and a half hours without drawing immediate attention on the busy road.
Police Investigation and CCTV Surveillance Scan
Immediately following the discovery of the break-in, the victims alerted the local police authorities, who dispatched officers to inspect the crime scene. Investigators have begun scrutinizing recorded footage from CCTV cameras installed on Arya Samaj Road, near Canara Bank, and outside surrounding commercial establishments. Law enforcement officials are actively analyzing the movements of suspicious individuals and vehicles in the vicinity during that time frame to trace the suspects.
