Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the third high-level meeting with Secretaries to the Government of India at his official residence in New Delhi. The expansive session focused on strategic priorities spanning national security, foreign relations, infrastructure expansion, connectivity, and comprehensive governance reforms. Directing senior bureaucrats to prepare the nation for future challenges, PM Modi emphasized that public administration must transcend immediate statistical metrics and align with a strategic, long-term developmental vision for the country.
Overcoming Departmental Silos and Fostering Teamwork
Addressing operational bottlenecks within the central administration, the Prime Minister highlighted the persistent challenge of insufficient coordination among government departments. PM Modi noted that compartmentalized working styles represent a flaw in organizational mindset rather than mere structural limitations. He urged senior officials to break departmental silos and operate with collective responsibility and active teamwork. According to the Prime Minister, adopting an integrated governance model is essential for addressing complex socioeconomic challenges effectively.
Integrating Youth and Academia into Policy-Making
To infuse fresh perspectives and innovative concepts into governance, PM Modi called for active engagement between government ministries, the nation's youth, and academic institutions. He stated that regular dialogue with universities can harness academic research and youth energy to refine public policy. Encouraging continuous institutional interaction, the Prime Minister pointed out that bringing academic insights into administrative planning will yield policies that are both highly impactful and resilient to future demands.
Optimizing Data Infrastructure and Responsible AI Governance
Recognizing data as a strategic national asset, Prime Minister Modi stressed the need for robust data governance and seamless cross-departmental sharing mechanisms. He observed that fragmented data pools hinder the optimal realization of national capabilities. Furthermore, discussing the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in administrative operations, the Prime Minister affirmed that while AI is vital for enhancing efficiency, human judgment, oversight, and reasoning must remain central to key policy decisions.
Accelerating Defense Innovation and Port-Led Infrastructure Growth
The meeting also framed key initiatives aimed at elevating India's defense sector and maritime logistics infrastructure. PM Modi directed officials to boost research, innovation, and human resource development to position the domestic defense ecosystem on a global scale. On the maritime front, he instructed swift execution of port-led development projects. Ensuring seamless multi-modal connectivity was identified as a core strategic goal to bolster domestic manufacturing and expand the nation's export capacity.
