Press Conference Disrupted by Slipper Incident
The incident occurred on Sunday while Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, who represents Bihar's Purnia constituency as an Independent MP, was addressing a media briefing at his official residence in the national capital. Two men managed to gain entry into the venue, where one of them confronted the MP, accusing him of disrespecting Lord Ram and characterizing his recent political demonstrations as mere drama. In the middle of the argument, the individual hurled a slipper toward Yadav. The action immediately triggered a physical scuffle between the MP's supporters and the intruder, prompting security staff to intervene and take both suspects into custody for questioning.
Police File Charges Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Providing details on Monday, police officials confirmed that the First Information Report was launched based on allegations submitted by security personnel posted at the MP's residence. The duty officers reported that they faced physical aggression and were impeded from discharging their protective duties during the brawl. Consequently, Delhi Police invoked several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)

- Section 121 (1): Voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from performing official duty.
- Section 132: Using criminal force or committing assault against a public servant.
- Section 3 (5): Acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention.

Investigating officers are currently reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings retrieved from inside the MP's residential compound as well as surrounding street cameras. Law enforcement is documenting formal statements from eyewitnesses, house staff, and the police personnel present during the confrontation. Roots of Conflict in Parliament Demonstration
The confrontation stems from a political demonstration held inside the Parliament complex on Friday. Pappu Yadav had joined several opposition lawmakers, including Rahul Gandhi, near the Makar Dwar to protest against alleged irregularities and theft from the donation box at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Clad in saffron attire, Yadav engaged in a symbolic protest where, as other MPs deposited money into a replica donation box, he placed funds into his own pocket to highlight the alleged theft.
