Motherhood brings massive shifts in a woman's life and career trajectory. Actor Parineeti Chopra recently opened up about these profound changes for the first time, detailing the intense emotional turmoil she experienced when stepping out for work after welcoming her child.
The Pain of the First Work Trip
During an interview, Parineeti shared that parting ways with her baby for the first time to resume work was an overwhelming experience. She confessed that she completely broke down during the journey and wept continuously. According to her, dismissing this emotional state merely as mom guilt does not capture the depth of the pain she felt at that moment.
A Blur of a Journey
Reflecting on that initial trip away from home, the actor admitted that she has no clear memory of the commute. Her mind was entirely consumed by thoughts of her child back home. She could not recall how she managed to reach the airport, board the flight, or make her way to her destination in Mumbai, as her sole focus remained on how she would function without her baby.
Challenging Societal Expectations
Parineeti mentioned that even though she was fully aware her child was safe at home, the physical separation gnawed at her internally. For a brief moment, she even questioned whether she would ever be able to work again. Beyond her personal struggles, she raised important questions about societal norms that expect women to halt their professional lives entirely after starting a family.
