In the film industry, career-defining opportunities often demand immediate personal sacrifices. Actress Shriya Saran, currently enjoying the strong box office run of Drishyam 3, recently opened up about a whirlwind moment connected to director SS Rajamouli's blockbuster epic RRR. The actress, who featured opposite Ajay Devgn in the historical drama, revealed that she was completely immersed in family festivities in Jaipur when a sudden call altered her schedule overnight.
Leaving the Wedding Festivities Behind
Saran shared that she was having a wonderful time participating in her cousin's wedding ceremony when she received an urgent inquiry asking if she could arrive on set the very next day. Recognizing the immense prestige of working with SS Rajamouli once again, the actress decided not to deliberate even for a moment. She immediately gathered her belongings, stepped away from the baraat celebrations, and prepared to leave for Hyderabad.
Reflecting on the frantic hours leading up to her departure, Saran noted that her flight was booked for 5 AM the following morning. The urgency and excitement kept her awake the entire night, leaving her with zero hours of sleep before boarding the airplane. Despite the extreme fatigue, she prioritized reaching the shoot location on time to portray her pivotal cameo alongside Ajay Devgn, a role that subsequently earned widespread audience appreciation.
A Last-Minute Overhaul of the Shooting Itinerary
When Saran accepted the last-minute assignment, the initial itinerary conveyed by the production crew appeared fairly relaxed. The makers had initially reassured her that the first day would only involve casual script reading sessions alongside a standard look test, with actual camera work commencing a day later.
Upon landing in Hyderabad, however, the production timeline accelerated abruptly. The team quickly reviewed the script material and checked her camera appearance on the spot. Pleased with the preparations, the filmmakers decided to skip the waiting period and initiate live filming right away. Saran found herself stepping directly in front of the cameras far earlier than anticipated, capping off an intense day that started at a family wedding.
Reuniting with the Director Decades After Chatrapathi
This collaboration marked Saran's second major cinematic venture under SS Rajamouli's direction. Their artistic association originally dates back to the 2005 hit action title Chatrapathi, where she shared the screen with lead actor Prabhas. Having witnessed the director's exacting standards and storytelling vision years earlier, Saran felt that missing a family function was a small trade-off for another opportunity to be part of his grand cinematic canvas.
