The historic Red Fort grounds in the national capital are gearing up for a distinctive Dussehra celebration this season. During the upcoming festivities on October 20, acclaimed Bollywood actress Yami Gautam will grace the Lav Kush Ramlila stage as a special guest. She will draw her bow and shoot an arrow to burn the effigy of Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of righteousness over wickedness.
This live appearance mirrors a recent cinematic sequence for Yami Gautam, whose latest feature film titled 'Nayi Naveli' also depicts her vanquishing a Ravana figure in one of its scenes. Moving from the silver screen to reality, she will now perform the ritual before thousands of spectators gathered in Delhi.
Lav Kush Ramlila Committee President Arjun Kumar explained that the core theme for this year's celebration revolves around honoring women. He noted that a woman represents not only care and compassion but also possesses the courage to stand against societal evils. Driven by this vision, the committee invited the actress to represent women across the country and demonstrate that female strength plays a vital role in overcoming negativity.
Arjun Kumar further elaborated that Ravana signifies arrogance and injustice rather than just a mythological figure. By having a woman perform the symbolic slaying, the committee aims to deliver a strong message of empowerment and respect for women.
This grand tradition at the Red Fort venue has previously welcomed numerous prominent cinema stars. Past participants who have partaken in the effigy burning include Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Prabhas, Kareena Kapoor, and filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Yami Gautam is now set to become the newest addition to this notable legacy.
When the actress launches the fiery arrow to mark the victory over evil, the moment will transcend a routine festival to become a powerful declaration of courage and empowerment. The organizing committee has urged residents of Delhi to gather with their families at the Red Fort grounds to witness the historic occasion.
