Food enthusiasts in Patna no longer need to travel to Varanasi to experience the famous spicy tomato chaat sold in the ancient lanes of Banaras. Located near Technology Bhawan in the Punaichak area on Bailey Road, a popular street food joint named Kashi Chaat Hub has become the city's latest culinary destination. The stall recently introduced authentic Banarasi-style tomato chaat served in traditional clay cups known as kulhads. The new dish has quickly captured the imagination of both local food lovers and digital content creators, leading to massive daily crowds.
Massive Daily Sales and Social Media Virality
Set up every evening next to Technology Bhawan on Bailey Road, Kashi Chaat Hub has been serving traditional street snacks for some time. However, the addition of Banarasi tomato chaat just two to three days ago has sparked unprecedented excitement among visitors. Despite being newly launched, the stall is already selling between 150 and 200 kulhads of tomato chaat every day. The demand is so intense that long queues form as soon as the stall opens for service.
Beyond local foodies, the joint has transformed into a major hub for social media influencers and food vloggers. Thousands of reel videos featuring the preparation of this kulhad chaat are currently circulating across platforms like Instagram and Facebook. To manage the continuous rush of vloggers, the stall management has even assigned a dedicated staff member exclusively to assist content creators. Swarms of customers regularly surround the counter, making it one of the most viral food spots in Patna.
Pure Ghee Preparation with a Local Bihari Twist
According to Shekhar, the operator of Kashi Chaat Hub, strict standards of purity and quality are maintained while preparing the signature tomato chaat. The dish is cooked using top quality branded pure ghee. The cooking process begins by slow-roasting fresh tomatoes and boiled potatoes together over a flame to form a thick, tangy, and flavorful base. This hot mixture is then scooped into unglazed terracotta kulhads.
Once the base is set in the kulhad, it is layered with a rich blend of ground and whole spices, crispy namkeen, grated paneer (cottage cheese), a dash of sweet sugar syrup (chashni), freshly chopped coriander leaves, and spicy green chutney. Shekhar notes that while the recipe draws direct inspiration from Varanasi, he customized the flavor profile to suit local palates by incorporating subtle Bihari culinary nuances. Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with visitors praising the dish right from their first bite.
Diverse Menu Options and Pocket-Friendly Pricing
In addition to the famous tomato chaat, Kashi Chaat Hub is renowned for its crispy potato tikki chaat cooked in pure ghee. The presentation and taste are further elevated by using thick homemade yogurt and a unique sweet-and-sour chutney made from jaggery and coriander. Fresh red pomegranate seeds are sprinkled on top as a final garnish, adding a vibrant visual appeal and a refreshing burst of flavor.
Despite using premium ingredients like pure ghee, Kashi Chaat Hub maintains very affordable pricing across its menu. The current price list includes
- Mix Chaat, Samosa Chaat, Tikki Chaat, and Papdi Chaat: 50 rupees per plate.
- Dahi Tikki Chaat, Dahi Papdi Chaat, and Dahi Samosa Chaat: 50 rupees per plate.

Prime Administrative Hub Drawing Visitors State-Wide
The strategic location of Kashi Chaat Hub plays a significant role in its massive popularity. The stall operates in the heart of Patna's major administrative zone, surrounded by prominent government headquarters including the New Secretariat (New Sachivalaya), Suchna Bhawan, Technology Bhawan, and Vishveshwariya Bhawan. Thousands of citizens and government officials visit these offices daily from all 38 districts of Bihar for administrative work.
Shekhar, who established the stall in 2022, shared that visitors from virtually every district of Bihar have sampled his chaat over the past two years. After concluding their official business for the day, government staff, visitors, and locals gather at the stall to unwind with hot snacks. This steady influx of people from across the state has cemented Kashi Chaat Hub's reputation as a must-visit food destination in Patna.
