Farmers enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme are keeping a close watch on their bank accounts, with speculation building over when the 24th installment of the government's cash support program will land, and early signs point to October 2026.
A scheme built to spread support across the year
Run by the central government, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme is designed to give eligible farmers steady financial assistance rather than a single lump sum. Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive Rs 6,000 every year, split into three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each, paid out at intervals of roughly four months. The money is credited directly into farmers' bank accounts through direct benefit transfer, or DBT, which cuts out any middlemen from the process.
Last payout arrived in June, next one expected in October
The most recent installment under the scheme was released in June, and going by the usual four-month gap between payments, the 24th installment is expected to arrive in October 2026. Early indications point to the middle of the month as the likely window for the transfer. However, the central government has not issued any official statement confirming either the exact date, so farmers are advised to treat October as a tentative estimate rather than a confirmed schedule until an announcement is made.
Steps to check your PM Kisan status online
Beneficiaries who want to track where their payment stands can do so directly through the scheme's official portal. Here is how
- Visit the official PM Kisan portal at https://pmkisan.gov.in/.
- On the home page, look for the Farmers Corner section and click on it.
- Select the option labelled Know Your Status.
- Enter your registration number to view the installment status.
- If you do not know your Aadhaar number or registered mobile number, you can still check status by entering your mobile number, after completing an OTP verification linked to that registered number.
- Enter the captcha code shown on screen and click Get Data.
Once submitted, the portal displays full details including installment history, payment status and eligibility information for that beneficiary.
How farmers get enrolled and verified
Before any installment is released, the PM Kisan scheme follows an online verification process to confirm who is actually eligible. State and Union Territory governments are responsible for uploading the details of eligible farmers onto the PM Kisan portal, and this uploaded list forms the basis for processing each round of payments. For farmers who are not yet part of the scheme, registration does not require a trip to any central office, it can be completed at the village level itself, through officials such as Patwaris, revenue officials, or other authorised local officers who handle enrolment on the ground.
