Urban development and cleanliness are being prioritized in the Gauriganj municipal area of Amethi district, with several major initiatives underway. In line with the government directives, the local infrastructure is being systematically strengthened to provide better amenities to residents. Several ambitious projects are also lined up for the future, which will help transform the municipality into a more modern and well-equipped urban center.
Development of Amrit Udyan and Sarovar
The Gauriganj municipality was formed in 2015 and is roughly 11 years old. The municipal council is developing an Amrit Udyan in the Vishnundaspur ward of Amethi. Crores of rupees are being spent on this project, which features an attractive selfie point along with a newly constructed Amrit Sarovar. In the near future, local residents will also be able to enjoy boating facilities here. Additionally, a medicinal garden is being established on the same premises, featuring useful therapeutic plants such as tulsi and aloe vera that will benefit visitors.
Road Improvements and Drainage Networks
Encompassing 25 wards, the municipality has spent lakhs of rupees on widening and strengthening roads to ensure smooth transportation for commuters. To prevent waterlogging during the rainy season, proper drainage systems and new drains are being constructed across all major wards. Municipal official Sunil Kumar stated during an interaction that a new park is also being set up in the old gaushala under the Upvan scheme.
Second Term and Future Expansion Plans
Gauriganj municipality is currently in its second five-year term, and past infrastructural deficiencies are being systematically addressed. Since the government allocates a limited budget for each financial year, work is being executed accordingly. Outlining future goals, the administration is planning the construction of additional shops, dedicated vending zones, and improved waste management systems to ensure Gauriganj emerges as a fully developed and well-furnished city.
