Devotees typically visit the holy shrine to seek blessings for family happiness, recovery from illness, or a bright future for their children, but five farmers from Uttar Pradesh have set out with an entirely different mission. Hailing from the Lalitpur district, these individuals have chosen to pray for the well-being of the entire nation, public health, mutual brotherhood, and the country progress rather than asking for anything for themselves. Embarking on a grueling 1200-kilometer journey on foot, their unwavering faith overcomes the limits of age as they cover 40 to 50 kilometers every single day. Among the group, two farmers have taken a vow to walk completely barefoot throughout the pilgrimage. Beneath their feet lie scorching paths, stony terrain, and an endless road, but the name of the deity on their lips and relentless faith keep them moving forward.
The 1200 Kilometer Journey From Lalitpur
Farmer Lakshman Das shared that they started their expedition from the Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh around 12 days ago toward the holy abode of Vaishno Devi. Spanning a total distance of approximately 1200 kilometers, they walk between 40 and 50 kilometers daily. After walking all day, the group rests at temples, religious sites, or other safe accommodations along the route. As morning breaks, they pick up the sacred flag once again to resume their march. Lakshman Das earns his livelihood through farming. When setting out from home, he harbored no grand personal ambitions. His sole intention was to reach the feet of the deity and offer prayers for the welfare of the country and society. With rising illnesses and road accidents shattering numerous families, he hopes that citizens are freed from these hardships and every household attains happiness.
Overwhelming Support From People Along The Route
Farmer Chhotu Ram explained that a group of five set out carrying the sacred flag and essential supplies. While they are away on this pilgrimage, other family members back home manage the farming responsibilities. Witnessing their steadfast devotion, people along the route constantly step forward to offer assistance. Some provide meals, others offer drinking water, and many arrange safe places for them to sleep at night. Several individuals also contribute financial aid. The farmers noted that they are traveling with limited resources and gratefully accept whatever facilities they encounter on the road while praising the deity.
Their greatest desire is for mutual brotherhood to endure across India and for the country to transform into a developed nation by the year 2047. They want children to progress, youths to work hard, and India name to shine globally. Throughout the journey, these farmers are also spreading a strong message against substance abuse among the younger generation. They emphasize that young people are the strength of the nation. If youth steer clear of addiction and choose the path of education, hard work, and moral values, nothing can stop the country from advancing.
