A tragic incident occurred in Baraundi village, located in the Ladwa area of Kurukshetra district, where torrential downpours caused the roof of a house to suddenly collapse. A married couple was trapped under the debris and lost their lives. The incident has sent a wave of grief throughout the entire village. The deceased couple has been identified as Karnail Singh and his wife Jaswinder Kaur.

Upon hearing about the structural failure, nearby residents rushed to the scene to assist with rescue efforts. Locals worked frantically to remove the rubble and cut through the concrete slab to pull the trapped individuals out. After strenuous effort, both Karnail Singh and Jaswinder Kaur were extracted from beneath the fallen roof and rushed to a nearby hospital. However, attending doctors declared both of them dead on arrival. Following the tragedy, police officers inspected the spot and initiated an investigation into the circumstances. Initial findings suggest that the structure was old and weakened, failing to withstand the weight and moisture of the continuous rain.

According to weather metrics recorded during the 24-hour period ending at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, varying degrees of precipitation were registered across multiple Haryana districts. Ambala experienced the highest rainfall in the state at 94.6 mm. Narnaul recorded 22 mm, Sirsa registered 16 mm, and Yamunanagar received 12 mm of rain. Lower precipitation levels were observed in Hisar at 4.4 mm and Fatehabad at 2.5 mm. Meanwhile, in Panchkula, rain commenced around 7:30 AM on Tuesday and continued steadily as a continuous drizzle for five hours.

In Ambala, non-stop overnight rain delivered much-needed relief to citizens who had been enduring uncomfortable heat and intense humidity for days. Local residents expressed satisfaction with the weather change, noting that the downpours would help recharge depleted groundwater tables. Although temporary waterlogging was observed in several low-lying pockets and road stretches, the accumulated water began receding from the streets shortly after the rain eased. Local fruit and vegetable vendors noted that while wet weather temporarily reduces footfall of shoppers, the sharp drop in temperature was a welcome change for everyone.

In contrast to the relief felt in Ambala, rain in Jhajjar exposed major flaws in municipal flood preparedness as main roads and public intersections were completely submerged. High water levels severely impacted key locations including Purani Tehsil Road, Mahila Police Station Road, Ambedkar Chowk, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Mata Gate Mohalla, Silani Gate, Ghosiyan Mohalla, and areas surrounding the Sadar Police Station. Commuters and motorists were forced to wade through knee-deep water while navigating flooded thoroughfares. Frustrated local residents criticized the administration, highlighting that despite an allocated drainage budget of approximately 10 crore rupees, every rainy spell causes widespread urban flooding and raises serious doubts about public development work.
