A money dispute in Gurugram's Sector-14 turned violent after a man allegedly shot a PG accommodation operator in the head, before fleeing the scene. The attack happened suddenly, leaving those inside the house too stunned to react in the moment, and the victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Shooter walked into the victim's home
The attack took place inside the Sector-14 residence of Hemant Kaushik, who runs a PG facility. The accused, identified as Amarjeet, arrived at Hemant's house over an old financial dispute between the two. Once inside, he pulled out a weapon he was carrying and fired directly at Hemant's head. Amarjeet did not linger at the scene, fleeing immediately after the shot was fired.
Old money dispute behind the attack
According to Sector 14 station in-charge Amit Kumar, Amarjeet and Hemant had been locked in a long-running dispute over money owed between them. The dispute was old enough that the accused had gone to Hemant's house specifically intending to settle it. A conversation about the money began inside the house but quickly turned into an argument, which escalated into a heated confrontation within moments. During this confrontation, Amarjeet drew his weapon and shot Hemant in the head, turning a financial dispute into a serious crime.
Critical condition, treatment underway at Fortis Hospital
Hemant was severely injured by the gunshot and quickly lost consciousness. He was rushed without delay to Fortis Hospital for treatment, where doctors have described his condition as critical. Treatment is currently underway, with a team of doctors continuously monitoring his condition. His family and close acquaintances remain deeply worried about his recovery.
Wife and friend were present at the scene
Police said Hemant's wife and his friend Lalit were also present in the house at the time of the shooting. Those inside were startled by the sound of gunfire and reacted immediately. Lalit lost no time in alerting the police about the incident. A police team reached the spot soon after and launched an investigation. Senior Gurugram police officials also arrived at the scene shortly after and personally took charge of the probe.
Manhunt underway for the accused
Amarjeet has remained beyond the reach of the police since carrying out the attack. A dedicated team has been formed to arrest him as quickly as possible, and it is conducting raids at his suspected locations. Police are not limiting the investigation to the money dispute alone, and are also closely examining other aspects connected to the incident to build a complete picture of what happened. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and the full reason behind the incident will become clear only after the accused is arrested.
