Speaking at the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha-Seva Jyoti Yatra held in Gurugram, Haryana on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah evaluated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's quarter-century journey in executive governance. Organised as part of the nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the gathering focused on the significance of maintaining enduring public trust while steering high constitutional offices without interruption.
A Record Quarter-Century of Executive Governance
Amit Shah marked 7 October as a defining milestone in Indian democratic history, tracing Narendra Modi's trajectory from humble beginnings to the highest levels of governance. He underscored that sustaining a position at the pinnacle of administration for twenty-five unbroken years, transitioning seamlessly from Chief Minister of Gujarat to Prime Minister of the country, represents an unprecedented benchmark in national politics. He remarked that whenever historical chronicles of governance are documented, this twenty-five-year phase will occupy a golden chapter in the nation's political evolution.
Key National Milestones and Structural Reforms
Reflecting on the decisive policy and security decisions spanning this tenure, Amit Shah cited critical national turning points. These included comprehensive measures toward poverty reduction, fortifying territorial and domestic security, the revocation of Article 370, and systemic operations against Naxalism. He also noted major cultural and physical infrastructure projects, highlighting the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, the revitalization of the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, rapid infrastructure expansion, and socio-economic policies that lifted 25 crore people above the poverty line. He characterised this tenure as an integrated mission dedicated to national welfare, grassroots empowerment, and national pride.
Mobilising Youth Through Nationwide District Campaigns
To commemorate these 25 years of public service, the Seva Jyoti Yatra is being rolled out across every district in the country. Amit Shah explained that young volunteers will carry the commemorative torch of public service to prominent city intersections to illuminate ceremonial torches. Calling upon the youth to join the initiative in substantial numbers, he urged citizens to transform the nationwide march into an expansive civic celebration of participatory governance and public service.
