A tragic incident has been reported from Nuh district in Haryana, where a traditional rural circus stunt ended in death. A 27 year old performer named Deepak suffocated while executing a dangerous three day buried alive stunt in Khori village under the Taoru area. Deepak, who had been performing such extreme acts for nearly 15 years, was discovered unconscious when his troupe dug him out after the scheduled three day duration. He was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Local authorities and police have launched a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The Fatal Three Day Underground Stunt in Khori Village
The tragedy took place on an empty plot in Khori village, located in the Taoru block of Nuh district, where a traveling troupe of rural artists had set up camp. Deepak, a resident of Gauchi village in Faridabad, was performing to entertain local crowds. Before entering the pit for his final act, Deepak performed various bicycle maneuvers to engage the gathering. For his main presentation, known locally as Jeevith Samadhi, Deepak entered a burlap bag on July 23 and was lowered into a specially dug pit. The pit was subsequently covered with a dense layer of soil. The performance called for him to remain buried inside the sack for three consecutive days before being unearthed, but a lack of oxygen beneath the dirt proved fatal.
Fifteen Years of Performance Experience Cut Short
Police investigations revealed that Deepak belonged to a traditional family of itinerant performers who move from one village to another to earn a living through street circuses and stunt displays. Deepak had been actively participating in such risky events for approximately 15 years. He had successfully performed the buried alive routine on several previous occasions without incident. His troupe members did not anticipate that a spectacle they had staged safely multiple times in the past would turn catastrophic this time.
Unearthed Unconscious After Three Days
Upon the completion of the three day timeframe following his burial on July 23, troupe members excavated the pit to release Deepak. When they untied the sack and pulled him out, Deepak was completely uncommunicative and unresponsive. His companions immediately transported him to the nearest hospital for emergency medical attention, but attending physicians declared him brought dead. Police officials were notified shortly after the medical declaration and began securing evidence from the site.
Police Investigation and Administrative Action
Providing details regarding the legal proceedings, Inspector Rajesh Kumar, station house officer of Taoru Sadar police station, stated that initial findings indicate suffocation due to oxygen deprivation under soil as the primary cause of death. He noted that final conclusions regarding the exact cause will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report. Addressing the event, Nuh Deputy Commissioner Akhil Pillani emphasized that life threatening stunts of this nature are entirely illegal. The district administration will conduct a thorough investigation to determine how such an unauthorized and dangerous public event was organized without obtaining mandatory administrative permissions.
