Administrative authorities in Jind sealed the Khanauri border situated on the Haryana Punjab boundary late at night following the announcement of a protest march by farmers toward Delhi. Multi layered security arrangements featuring 5 layer barricades have been put in place to prevent the marching crowd from proceeding toward the national capital. Police personnel and civil administration remain on high alert across the border zone to enforce order.
The 228 Km Kisan Bachao Padyatra
Organized under the banner of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), the demonstration is being spearheaded by farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. The 228 kilometer foot march, titled Kisan Bachao Padyatra, has been launched to register protest against the India US Trade Deal. Commencing on 16 August from Datasinghwala village, the march is scheduled to cover its destination over nearly two weeks, terminating at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on 29 August.
First Day Schedule and Route Details
Prior to flagging off the march on 16 August, farmers gathered at Datasinghwala village to hold a mass meeting and offer traditional Ardas prayers. The participants will officially begin walking at 3:00 PM. According to the planned itinerary, local residents will accord a welcome to the marchers at the main stop of Ujhana village in the evening. The farmers will then halt for their night stay at Belarkha village before resuming the journey the next morning.
Police Readiness along Border Areas
With the movement of farmers toward Delhi under way, both civil administration and law enforcement agencies have tightened surveillance across the Jind border belt. Security checkposts and physical barriers are operating around the clock to manage movement, while officials continue to monitor key transport routes leading to the national capital.
