A high-stakes police chase on National Highway 44 ended with dramatic scenes near Sonipat when a wanted suspect attempted an escape by jumping off an elevated corridor. The Sonipat unit of the Special Task Force was tracking a vehicle heading toward Delhi from the Panipat direction following specific inputs regarding two fugitives. Upon reaching the Bhigan flyover, police personnel executed a tactical cordon and intercepted the suspects' car from all sides, cutting off their escape route on the busy highway.
Suspect Suffers Severe Injuries After Dropping Multiple Feet
Realizing that law enforcement officers had fully surrounded the vehicle, one of the occupants abruptly leaped over the flyover railing to evade arrest. The drop of multiple feet onto the ground below left him critically injured and immobilized. STF personnel immediately secured the perimeter, took him into custody, and shifted him to the Civil Hospital in Sonipat for emergency medical care. The injured suspect was identified as Manoj alias Filmi, a resident of Bahbalpur in Hisar district who carries a documented criminal background. His associate inside the car was overpowered instantly and identified as Sachin, a resident of Kabirpur in Sonipat.
Connection to the June Toll Plaza Slaying in Hisar
Both individuals were prime targets of an ongoing manhunt in connection with a violent crime that took place in Hisar during the month of June. According to case records, toll manager Sanjay Shukla was attacked and murdered at the Bado Patti toll plaza by a group of assailants. Manoj alias Filmi had allegedly executed the killing along with his associates, with Sachin actively participating in the fatal assault. Following the murder, both suspects went into hiding and continuously evaded multiple law enforcement teams attempting to track their movements.
Firearm and Vehicle Seized as Interrogation Commences
Providing operational details of the interception, STF in-charge Ajay Dhankhar stated that the unit received actionable intelligence indicating that the fugitives wanted in the Bado Patti toll murder were traveling along the highway. Acting swiftly on the lead, the police team pursued the suspects' car on National Highway 44 and blocked it completely atop the Bhigan flyover. While Manoj jumped from the structure upon sighting the police, Sachin was restrained directly inside the vehicle. Officers recovered an illegal pistol and seized the getaway car from the scene. As Manoj undergoes medical treatment at the hospital, investigators are questioning Sachin to uncover details of their network and cross-reference his past criminal record.
